Welcome to the Wortham & Burgate Parish Council website. As its name infers the Council represents two parishes.
Wortham, the larger of the two parishes with an electorate of 566, lies some 3 miles west of Diss on the A143 and Burgate, a much smaller parish with just 128 electors, adjacent to Wortham just south of the A143.
The most distinctive features in both parishes are the large grassland commons around which the majority of residential properties are situated.
Wortham and Burgate villages were twinned with Hédé-Bazouges in Brittany in 1991. Please select the link to read more.
The villages are well served by the Dolphin Public House, the Wortham Post Office, Shop & Cafe, the Honey Pot Camping Caravan Site and an excellent primary school.
The Wortham Village Hall and Burgate Church Hall both play host to numerous local clubs and organisations. Meanwhile the modern sports pavilion is home to the Cricket Club, the Lawn Tennis Club, the Bowls Club and Football club.
